Houbigant is a French perfume house founded by Jean Francois Houbigant in 1775. The perfume house was the first to discover how to isolate particular molecules from natural raw materials, especially Coumarin, which is extracted from Tonka beans. Fougere Royale was first introduced in 1882, the first "fougere" perfume ever created, establishing a completely new fragrance family which is still a popular scent today in men's fragrances.
